Common questions about Level 4

How much is a Level 4 home care package worth?+
A Level 4 package provides a government subsidy of $59,594 per year (approximately $1,146 per week) in 2025–26. This is the highest traditional package level and reflects complex, high-level care needs.
How many hours of care does a Level 4 package give you?+
Most Level 4 recipients receive approximately 12–20 hours of direct care per week, depending on the mix of services and provider management fees. Clinical services like nursing cost more per hour, while personal care and domestic assistance provide more hours for the same spend.
Who qualifies for a Level 4 home care package?+
Level 4 is for people with high or complex care needs — typically those who require daily clinical nursing, significant allied health services, dementia support, or multiple daily personal care visits. An ACAT assessment determines eligibility. Not everyone who applies receives Level 4.
What is the wait time for a Level 4 home care package?+
Wait times vary. Under the Support at Home program (from July 2025), the government has committed to reducing wait times, but high-level packages like Level 4 can still take months. Your ACAT assessment date determines your queue position. You may be offered interim CHSP services while waiting.
